New story...

I just finished a story that Jesus Antonio created, and penciled (see links to his site on the right).

I love his style. Joe Pruitt, an up and coming colorist, did a flat color ( my choice) on the story like the old days. I wanted to have an old south western feel so I did not want colors to distract from the story. I could be wrong but I feel a good story with a good graphic (Sans effects) moves quickly.

I did my first lettering job on this story and hope I did ok. We may have another letterer actually do it over, but I wanted to see if I could do it.
This is page one.

I am not sure which book it is in but I will post as soon as I know. It is a cool story and sort of a fifties EC style.

See you next time...Jimmy...

Not that I'm the expert but...it's good art. Lovely art. Very functional and helps the story no end. However it's the word balloons in panels 1 and 4 that bother me - in panel 1 they take up over half of the panel. Different, but it might be a bit too jarring for some to handle.

But then that's the problem dealing with a new generation of readers, most of whom have been weaned on Image, where words aren't as important as the pictures that go with them.

You know what'd be great to see? A story illustrated. There's a great Batman story, not sure who wrote it (might have been Englehart) that Marshall Rogers just drew pictures for - worked brilliantly. Perhaps that might be more effective if there's a lot of dialogue?

Think outside the box Jimmy. Jesus and yourself make a good art team and the story is interesting enough for me to want to read more, but have a think - what can be done to this to make it stand out from the pack?

Keep 'em coming though!

Thanks Danny,

It was a delema trying to get Jesus dialog in.

First time lettering for me so I tried to not block the aspects of the panels that were important.

I do see what you are saying though. An Illustrated story could be done.

We may do more together.

Right now I am trying to finish up the third Issue of Full Moon Craze with Cesar. I guess we will be doing aother three issues as it will be a 6 issue mini series.

What project are you on right now?

Loads Jimmy, loads. Articles for Alter Ego, Back Issue and possibly one for Charlton Spotlight. I have an interview/bio piece to finish on Clifford Meth for a retrospective. Piles of interviews to transcribe for the web-site. Books: Don Perlin, Alan Kupperberg and a project that I'll be damn happy to announce in a few short weeks - and you'll want a piece of it too...now if someone could invent a way to get an extra 8 hours out of a day I'd be happy.

Thank you Danny for the words, I appreciate them, in fact I hope next time to write and draw something with more action on it, this time I went to my way of telling a story and I was trying hard to have images and script to work together and Jimmy T..helped a lot with his polishing on the script!!

Thanks to all of you!!
